Click for more detailsI just recently went on a short weekend trip to Xi'an and had a very wonderful experience! While it was peak travel time, I was lucky enough to have the 'coach tour' with only one other person. We had perfect weather for the trip! Kitty, our tour guide, spoke wonderful English and knew a lot about Xi'an! She was very excited to share her knowledge with us and made the trip very memorable. We even had time to see the Goose Pagoda as well. Because there were only two of us, we both wanted to have the dumpling dinner and the Tang Dynasty show. Both are very much recommended as an addition to the tour to Xi'an! Xi'an is known for its dumplings! While it was not included in the tour, Kitty and our driver (Mr. Guo) took us directly to the show then dropped us off at our hotels afterwards. It was even more of a pleasant surprise when at the end of the journey, our driver was very excited to point out the bell tower to me! Thanks for such a great trip to see an ancient capital of China!

Click for more detailsWe had a 1 day tour to terra-cotta warriors and city wall in Xian at the begining of May 2010. David was our tour guide.He was very nice, spoke very good english with perfect knowledge about history, culture and habits so we lernt a lot during our trip. Terra-cotta is amazing place which everybody shouls see during holiday to China. We spent some minutes in City wall in Xian but it wasn't good because most of time we saw museum and shop. By the way i recommed this tour to everybody!

Had a private car tour. Guides name was BRUCE who was very informative and helpful. He didn't rush us on either the wall or the terra-cotta warriors, which was nice as we had felt rushed and under pressure on previous tours, not actually seeing things in as much depth as we would have liked. He even found time to take us to the Goose Pagoda on the return to our hotel. The only downside as with all the other tours was a factory visit, which we did not request or require , but sadly was an element in every tour we took. Tourists should be told of these visits and given the option to visit or not, thus leaving more time at sights of interest.

We booked this tour with a personal guide to get some more detail information about the Terra-cotta warriors. At the day when we booked this tour there were no other people for this tour, so we got a private car with just 2 persons. On the way our guide was telling a little bit about the history of the warriors. He also told us that he already go to this museum so many times that he already gets sick of it, maybe not the nicest welcome to start off the day. This mood we also could feel the whole day, because when we were in the museum and wanted to look all the different places he was always quickly finished and sometimes waiting outside. For the rest the tour was well organized and it was very interesting to see. It depends which tour guide will be join this tour, but we made the experience that the female are the better tour guides (in China).

The actual tour destination was fine. However the guide seemed to be just a little inexperienced. We got the bonus of being the only ones booked that day, so we got a private car instead of a bus tour. There was some pressure to visit places that we did not want to go to. And then there was the dilemma when one of us got ill and had to return to the hotel before starting the wall tour, leaving one of us with the tour guide and feeling pressured to go a Feng Shui place.
