Advertised as a guided tour, but the guide would not accompany us to the jiankou wall. Instead she dropped us off at the beginning of a small trail. Finally, it turned out that for a more decent path we should have approached the wall from a different area. We decided to go back to the drop off point and our guide took us to Mutianyu. There she advised us that we could walk to one end and climb over the wall to the Jiankou part. This is what we finally ended up doing and really was worth it. The guide was very nice, but it really was a pity that we weren't accompanied to at least the beginning of the wall itself. It was booked as a guided tour! The way we had our great wall tour, we could also just have arranged a car with driver only.
