I elected this tour as I came during "Golden Week" which is the National Day holiday at the start of October for China. I was assigned 3 different tour guides for each day, but all 3 were very informative. They had very good communication with each other and kept me informed as to what time I needed to meet the guide in the morning. They were almost always on time, too! Tony, my tour guide on the first day, called just to inform me that he would be two minutes late due to the incredibly busy traffic.
Overall, the tours were very impressive and they gave me a good opportunity to see the wonderful sights of Beijing. The tour has been updated so you no longer have to pay extra during the Hutong section of the trip; they just ask for tips at the end of the ride so be prepared to have about 20 RMB with you. 10 RMB is a recommended good tip and you will be asked to tip the local guide as well as your rickshaw driver.
There are unscheduled shopping trips. Some of these included a pearl factory, a silk shop, a tea shop, and a trip to visit a Chinese doctor. You can buy small items if you are looking for souvenirs for friends and such, and it is possible for you to bargain just a bit. Remember, a lot of times the first price that is offered is not the final price that the Chinese would like you to pay. It's just the highest that they want you to pay. So try your hand at bargaining, although at some of the more upscale places (like the silk factory) you can't bargain too much.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to see the sights of Beijing. I would not recommend going during a peak holiday time, so make sure you check to see when the holidays are in China!

They tirelessly explain the relevance in history of each attraction. We were a little disappointed with the 1st day though because (1) we did not get a good view of the Great Wall as it was drizzling and very foggy. The 2nd day (Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, etc.) was full of walk --- so guests should prepare for this by wearing comfortable shoes and gear. We had our best lunch on the 3rd day at the Hutong Tour. we would recommend this tour company, We suggest that guests bring with them a copy of the itinerary so they would know if said itinerary is properly followed.

1. The tour leader should be more flexible on tour destination. she brought us to tianamen square and forbidden city walking for 2 hour under direct sunlight in the middle of the day. We did not enjoy the tour under the hot sunshine. It will be better if it was done in the morning time.
2. Badaling Great Wall is so crowded, we could not get good picture there, during the way back to city, I saw some good spot to take a picture with great wall background, if the agent willing to stop for 10min taking picture, it would great.
3. The tour agent walk a little fast (summer palace, tianamen square, forbidden city). The tour member are combination of older people and children.
4. I am very satisfy with the support of Mr. Wang, he response on all my query on timely manner, he even call me during my arrival to ensure the driver pick up on time. Thank you

The third day was only ok as the Hutong tour is not something I recomend as you are asked to pay extra (for the "bycicle rider" and the extra tour guide that joined us) and because that part of the city is not what it use to be in the past and the people who lives there doesnt realy do anything to keep it clean.
You dont have to worry for lunch as everything is set up by the agency and

Cynthia, our tour guide made Beijing come alive for us. She was firendly, informative and professional. The first two days of the tour were impressive, the last day okay as the Hutongs have all been rebuilt, although the lunch in a local household was very good, and the local guide was interesting to talk with. As the tour encapsulates 2 shopping along the way, it is recommend that before you start the tour send a down familiarising yourself with the Chinese currency and pricing systems and of oourse refine your haggling skills. Wangfujing area gives you good practice in this. This preparation may assist you with undertanding the pricing and the quality of goods on the tour stops, and keep in mind they are generally good quality products you encounter.
Overall, a plesant introduction to Beijing

I found ChinaTour on the web and put myself in their hands completely for 4 days in Beijing. I was met at the airport, did the 3-day small group tour plus an evening tour (Peking duck) tour with guide Nicola (speaks English, a necessity for me). The 3 day tour covers the major highlights in Beijing and the guide was knowledgeable. It was quite a busy 3 days! I was picked from and delivered to my hotel (also booked through ChinaTour) each day. On the 4th day I flew (independantly) to Xian where China tour arranged an individual terra cotta army tour for me. This was also good. I certainly recommend their services. I suggest that you print out and take with you the itinerary for each day's tour with you, as on one day my guide wanted me to combine the day and evening tours. By having it with you you can ensure that all points are covered as described. My guide took me for an unscheduled foot massage (short, cheap and OK- unexpected extra payment required though) and after that there was no time to visit the Olympic stadium (as scheduled and which I would have preferred). It was not made clear to me that the foot massage would mean that I could only see the stadium whizzing by from the road. I wondered what 'interest' my guide had in the foot massage??!! I didn't have th e print out of the tour with me. Luckily I had a free day on my own in Beijing after the tours were over and so I got to Olympic park on my own. Overall I have no hesistation in recommending ChinaTour.

You dont have to worry for lunch as everything is set up by the agency and the brakefast is also included at the hotel. Realy recomed the Paragon Howard Johnson Hotel. They pick you up at the exact time in the airport when you arrive and at the hotel for the tour day and when you are leaving.
Sophie, our tour guide was more than excelent, she's a realy helpfull person not only at tour related facts but also to help you get things done when you really need something.
