The Beijing Dong Chang An Hotel is like many in China. It looks impressive and has very attentive staff. But it has not had daily care that is necessary to make American visitors really want to return to it. The room we had was in need of new carpet. The carpet had many burn spots. The bathroom had a tub and shower head but its configuration still caused water to be on the floor.
The breakfast buffet was advertised as having some Western foods. The offering had very few. We did not see nor was a menu option given for the restaurant.
Although it was relatively far from the major tourist venues we liked its location near the Silk Market and Embassy buildings.
