I stayed one night at the Riverside Hotel in Chengdu, and it was a very good experience. The rooms are clean and tidy, the staff is nice and the bellboys are very service minded. I didn´t have to carry my luggage at all! One good advice is to have the hotel name AND address written in Chinese, and I would recommend to print out some simple sentences in Chinese and bring with you, this will make it easier for you to get around/ask for help, if necessary.
If I go to Chengdu again sometime, I will definately stay at this hotel!
