 | Lijiang Liwang Hotel
The advertisment for this hotel stated it was the top four star hotel in Lijiang which is a total joke, we arrived in the evening with an advance booking for a superior suit with a view of snow mountain, the hotel then advised us they did not have suits with view of the mountain plus the advance reservation rate was incorrect and the price was actually 350rmb per night more than the booking rate, after a long aurgument by my Chinese Wife with the hotel staff we eventually moved into the suit, only to find the suit was freezing cold and no hot water, outside temerture was 2degrees, they then moved us to another suit which also was freezing cold, by this time it was 10pm and i had had enough, we went out for dinner, returned and went to bed with the room temperture sitting at approx 16degrees.
This was only the start of a very bad experience in a very badley run hotel, next morning no hot water and the little heating that although advertised at 24 hour was off through the dayand hence the suit was freezing, it took the engineer 30minutes to then supply us with hot water in the freezing suit.
The experience could have been avoided if this beutiful hotel was managed correctly, the rooms and suits are large and well decorated, no english TV by the way which is not a big point but they do advertise the Hotel as a International standard Hotel!
On a final point Lijiang old town is beautiful but i suggest visitors come in the summer as all the resteurants are also freezing with all the doors and windows left open, so we dinned every night in jackets, jumpers, hats and gloves and by the way avoid the Li Wang hotel
