We did an excellent tour on the Yangtze. The suggestion made by the river guide to get a room upgrade was excellent. We got two contiguous rooms which were communcating thanks to the balcony. Service was good and efficient. The visits were well organised. Entertainments during the evening was friendly and well done. I did really enjoy my trip with my my family ( 5 people ) The only issue is Not easy to find a taxi and then to find the boat when you are not speaking chinese at all.

We were expected a real 5 star trip.. what a surprise for us to see our room with very small and old bathroom. As soon as we visited the room we had booked, the river guide asked us to take a room with private balcony for 30$/ night supplement. We finally refused the room with private balcony because the bathroom was worth than the fisrt one. If you want to have some fun, you should not take this trip. You will love it if you like spending your time eating, sleeping. We get bored since the second day. The only attraction they have is tea time (coffee for 50 yuans, it was the cheapest thing in the boat), taking pictures with the captain (photo for 50 yuans also), demonstrations of massage (if you want massage it\'s about 300 yuans)... So now you understand that in this boat everything is about money, they want you to spend all your money in their boat. They called us everyday for a meeting for saying nothing special but it was an occasion to push us to order something to drink or to eat. This is not a 5 star service at all. At the end of the trip, they also asked to give tips for all the boat staff (they asked 40 yuans/person/day at least). We are very disapointed by this trip. We don\'t recommend the trip on the President 1. YOU SHOULD CHOOSE ANOTHER BOAT FOR THIS TRIP.

President 1 was THE ship on the yangtze for us. Booking online from Australia was a bit of a gamble but our research was correct and from what we saw of other ships nothing came close. The service was superb and the amenities first class. Our river guides were helpful and attentive particularly Sophie. The choice of excursions included in the package were brilliant. Would recommend a balcony cabin to get the best out of the passing scenery. Highly recommended !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
