Shanghai HengSheng Peninsula International Hotel
Ideally situated for the Bund and Nanjing Road shops, plus seeing the old town sites. Comfortable hotel, although I would expect breakfast to be included across all room tariffs. Internet service non-existant but this sees to be common with many hotels in the city. Overall would use it again for weekend stop because of its position, just away from the city noise but close enough to walk.

The hotel is good, I recommend it since it is in walking distance from Bund and Nanjing street. In addition, you can review the whole Shanghai in just few streets: from narrow dirty streets to skyscrapers. As about the hotel itself, it is clean, offer god breakfast and some interesting bars and restaurants. The only drawback was the absence of a mirror in the bathroom. I also find the internet rather expensive as compared with Hongkong and the rest of CHina (where it is free).

The hotel it self was good..specially the breakfast,my husband and i love the bacon.(LOLS) The view from our room was great..We occupy Room 1321. Its near the Bund. and shopping area. The room rates are affordable and reasonable.Ü We would definitely go back to heng sheng on 2009. We hope to occupy the very same room we have occupied when we 1st check in there...

Room was generally clean, service is alright but most of the staff cannot converse in English (even basic). It's so hard to communicate what you need. It 's a good thing some staff from reception can but those answering the room service such as aircon and house keeping concerns are really pitiful. Going to nanjing road takes a while. You can take the cab, only 5 minute away but walking takes time, around 15 minutes.

It\'s a 10-15 min walk to the Bund and Nan Jing Dong Lu. The bedroom is very small just as the bathroom. When we arrive, the room was not very clean, their never change the sheets.

Pro: Had a good feeling of our staying in this hotel. Good maintenance, room is clean, good location with reasonable price. Good help from tours booking desk. Con: Breakfast and meals inside restaurant are expensive. The food streets around the hotel are convinient but wish if they will pay attention to the cleanness to improve safety of the foods.

The location of the hotel was good for the price paid, about $52.50. It's a 10-15 min walk to the Bund and Nan Jing Dong Lu. There are little grungy street shops near the hotel but there are several massage places that only cost about 8RMB per hour a block away. I didn't try any though becaue I didn't have time. The location is okay because taxis are very cheap, starting at 11 RMB (about $1.50). The hotel room that we had was very small but very nicely renovated with a great glass bathroom and you had complete control of the A/C and could make it as cold as you want. The only problem was that the room was the end of a vent shaft so there was almost no natural light and the room lights were weak. We asked for another room but they were booked that day and we were too lazy to switch rooms, but they seemed open to switching our room the next day if there was availability. There is also a pool at the hotel, but I think you have to bring a swimming cap. We didn't have time to try to the pool.

The hotel was located at the end of a viaduct and was dimly lit at night. The service was not to my expectations for the price I paid. Your call.

It's not good enough to its value. The breakfast is good with quite few choices to westerners. The room is generally clean and spacious but a bit worn out - the carpet and the wall paper are old and dirty. A great view of the bund, however the horn noise of the barges on Yangpu river would wake you up 5am... The shower pressure is terribly slow and I could never have a proper shower there...
