Review of Suzhou Hengdeli Hotel by Anne

Suzhou Hengdeli Hotel

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Hendeli Hotel in Suzhou. The staff was courteous and helpful. There are people who seem to speak English adequately. We did not test this aspect as we speak Chinese. The hotel is very quiet overlooking an old Chinese mansion which has dim yellow lights outlining the roofs. It gives a quaint local color. The mansion is now a museum of Suzhou embroidery. The location is convenient-right in the middle of old Suzhou town. The rooms were clean and prices were great and made it very affordable for us to rent 3 rooms for a family of 6. For the adventurous, there are small noodle shops (with prices ranging from 5 RMB to 18 for a bowl!) and bakeries nearby. These shops cater to the local clientèles. The hotel does not accept international credit card so either pay ahead when you do the reservations or come with cash. There is a restaurant which serves breakfasts for 10 RMB each person. We were also impressed with the honesty of the cleaning staff. They rushed out after they discovered a bag of grapes which we left behind, as we could not eat them. The two girls were happy after I told them that they were welcome to have them. ^0^
