Kunming is the capital city of Yunnan Province. Lijiang is about 500km away from Kunming.
Kunming to Lijiang by train
Usually there are 5 trains travelling from Kunming to Lijiang. Sometimes in peak season(usually June and August), there will be temporary trains(train number with an” L”).
It takes about 8-10 hours from Kunming Train Station to Lijiang Train Station.
If you take a day train, you will spend almost all day on the train, about 8 hours.
Night train is probably a good choice for most tourists. It is suggested that you buy a sleeper ticket and stay overnight on the train. In this way, you can save both time and money.
