Review of Shanghai Astor House Hotel (Pujiang Hotel) by Silvia

Shanghai Astor House Hotel (Pujiang Hotel)

The hotel is very nice, the lobby and the rooms and nicely decorated, keeping the old-style character of the place. Breakfast was quite good, well assorted, and tasty. On the negative side, the personnel at the reception was not too smart, and sometimes just listened english with a dull expression in their face. Interesting enough was the fact that even the baggage boy and the housekeeping attendants could speak some english. The big inconvenience was that my room's lock was not new, so they left the door of my room open for a whole day. Lucky enough nobody got inside my room and took my things away. Moreover my room and my friend's room had water dripping from the ceiling and pieces of paint fell down on the floor and left there. Nobody at the reception thought of changing the room or upgrading it. Nice and clean the bathroom, only two small cockroaches. (Don't be freightened, I've been living in china for 5 years and the presence of this nice little fellows is common everywhere, even in 5 star hotels). All in all, a positive experience, with its little dosis of adventure.
