We have stayed at the Yangtze hotel twice for two nights. This small hotel had very helpful and friendly staff. The standard double room was very small but adequately equipped. We were very impressed with the Chinese restaurant and room service which provide excellent food at very reasonable prices. The location is fantastic, close to Nanjing Lu and Renmin park, within walking distance of many major attractions. I recommend this hotel for anyone who wants an alternative to large expensive and soulless western hotels...

I stayed in a superior double. The room was newly remodeled and was very comfortable. The hotel staff were very helpful and professional. They even allowed me to leave a bag in their storage room for 2 weeks before I actually checked in! The location is excellent - 2 block walk to Nanjing Road, but far enough away to avoid excessive noise. I highly recommend the Yangtze hotel. It was a good value for the price...

Very disappointing experence. Very old hotel with minimal updates. Reception staffs very rude and not accomodating at all. Room very small and noisy. (There was a big generator or some sort of giant airconditioning unit outside our window making very loud noise, plus the street was very noisy). Some of the electrical applicances didn't work or working on & off. Carpet very dirty. There was a discrepancy between the price we were quoted on the internet and the price we ended up paying but there were no point arguing with the unfriendly staffs. A total disaster. But to be fair, it is very close to the subway entrance but that's the only point right about this hotel. They would have to pay us ( a lot!) to make us ever stay there again...
