Review of 1 Day Mutianyu Great Wall No Shopping Tour by Rene

Terrible experience. I had just one day in China and decided to book the Mutianyu Great Wall tour. I received an email confirming the tour quickly after booking it. I received no phone call telling me the time the driver would show up in my hotel even though I sent an email asking for it. Not a problem, I researched on the webpage and found the driver usually goes to hotels between 6 AM to 8 AM. So I waited in my hotel from 6 AM to 7:30 AM and nobody showed up. I started to get worried and decided to call Chinatour. The person who picked the phone told me that the driver told them that he showed up in my hotel at 6:30 AM and didn't find anyone. She was very attentious and asked if I wanted to reschedule to the following day. But since I had just 1 day in China that was not an option. So either the driver was lying or he went to the wrong hotel. Thanks to this enormous incompetence I had to rush and find a private driver to take me to the wall for double the price. And if it weren't for him, I would have lost the opportunity to see the great wall. China tour: avoid at all costs!
