Review of 7 Day Guizhou minority tour by Joel

We recently returned from the Guizhou minority tour and had a great time. We could have easily missed the museum in KaiLi but our visit to Qingman and Shiqiao Miao villages was one of the highlights of our entire China trip. One of the great things about this tour was these are real villages and not geared so much to putting on a show for tourists like some other village tours in this region. We bought some beautiful textiles in Qingman and later in the tour in Shidong, where we also bought nice silver work. Zhengyuan is a nice little resort town in the mountains with lots to do. The ancient temple complex of Qinglongdong Cave (Green Dragon Cave) there is beautiful and inspiring and the cruise on the Wuyang River is a nice afternoon. Accommodations at the Guiyang Ramada Plaza were good but a bit spotty on the balance of the tour. Our room at the Golden Phoenix Guesthouse in Zhenyuan was very clean and had a wonderful view overlooking the river. After a couple days there, we even got used the Chinese style toilet. There aren’t a lot of hotel options in Zhenyuan and we would stay there again but we were less impressed with the Zhong De Yuan Holiday Hotel in KaiLi.
