Good: The Beijing Red Wall hotel was in a perfect location and we really enjoyed walking around the local hutongs that were just behind the hotel. It had a real "neighbourhood" feeling. The short walk along the canal towards the Forbidden City and Behai Park was very nice.
Bad: The carpets in the room and throughout the hotel were filthy. So much that if you wore your socks in the room, within minutes they were black and smelly. The beds were also very hard, but one member of our group liked that. The rest had to fold the blankets so you could lie on them instead. We booked a van through the hotel that was to take us to the airport. The van finally came, but it was very late. The hotel offered a buffet breakfast, but the dishes were not replenished very often, so there was not a big choice of food. Also, the tablecloths were very dirty, as well as the carpet.
