The Chao Tian Men hotel was very close (a short walk) to the Yangste Cruise ship dock. We were given a corner room on the 20th floor with views over the river and the CBD area. As Chongqing city area is built on a series of hill you have little choice but to walk up and down (or take the very cheap taxis) to get to any of the touristy sections.
