Mingyuan Hotel, Nanning.
A good quality 4 star hotel set back from the busy road so that it is quiet. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean although the usual rock hard beds. Aircon worked well. Plenty of trees around the carpark and a small garden help with air quality. Breakfast was just ok, nothing special but was included in the room rate which was lower when booked with ChinaTour.net than rack price. Staff were friendly and helpful but have limited english. The travel agency in the grounds arranged my train ticket to Guilin without fuss. On the disadvantage side, the hotel is a few blocks north of the centre of town and the trendy shopping district, which is near the Nanning Hotel, and you don't want to be caught walking when one of the frequent sub-tropical rainy downpours happens, or else your pants get wet (fold out umbrella not big enough).
