Review of Shanghai Changhang Hotel by Denna

Generally, my husband and I had a pleasant stay at Changhang Hotel. Absolutely attractive rates. We would not hesitate to stay again. The greatest advantage is location - easy to get taxis from outside the hotel and the subway station (Dong An Station) is just a short walk away and it connects to all other places of interest. The school opposite the hotel had an exercise regime on a few mornings and the music did wake us up but no big deal as it was only for a short period. Quite fun watching the students doing their mass exercise from our window. Room was clean but we could not get used to the very hard bed and the too soft pillows! TV channels were disappointing for us. The worst thing about the hotel is the reception staff who did not look happy at work. They were not able to answer our queries on directions, even when we showed the addresses in both English and Chinese. They just shook their heads and said they did not know. We gave up asking them for anything after that. Other staff like housekeeping and concierge were a lot better - friendly and attentive.
