After 100 minutes collecting 40-ish other travellers, we finally get off to Mutianyu. Half way we can use a restroom: by far the most disgusting loo in a wide area of Beijing. I held it up till destination where the tour leader asked me to wait: no time now. I didn't quite get the actual use if having a "guide". Let the busdriver buy the tickets and push everybody in the restaurant for the included lunch. Good lunch though...
I joined the group tour, it took so much time to wait for other guests to be picked up from other hotels. If I can choose again, I will choose a private tour...
Main tour was wonderful. However, the picking up process was horrible . We are the first one got picked up but it took over 1hour and 30 mins to reach the meeting spot without any explanation...
The tour that you arranged was excellent. Please understand that after booking and paying for the tour, we were not able to contact your company to confirm times of pickup from our Beijing hotel. The hotel staff suggested that we relax and expect your company to arrive in the morning - your bus did arrive and we were very relieved. It was a fantastic tour that was well enjoyed. I suggest that in future, you company make better contact with people from overseas who have booked with you so they are put at ease. Please confirm your understanding of this and then I will post great feedback on Trip Advisor. A well organised day tour to the Great Wall including a great lunch. Reasonably priced and no shopping. Would recommend...
The group tour was a mixed tour for chinese and international people. But the fact that the Chinese announcements were about 25-30 minutes while the english one were just about 5-10 minutes, showed the different treatment of the tour guide. The international participants also got their tickets for the great wall after the chinese and so on... Furthermore you can`t call this a guided tour since the wikipedia article contains a lot more information than the guide tells during the trip. It is more like a shuttle. But for that amount of money i would recommend everyone to by bus or taxi. It is faster and cheaper...
This is an excellent tour, the guide oriented us kindly and it was understandable. Effectively, they didn't bring us to shopping, and the experience was great...
Enjoyed the trip. Was solo so tagging with a big group was probably the way to go. Subway could've been an option but was afraid of getting lost or something worse since I don't speak/read Chinese. 3 hours drive up/ 2 1/2 back due to holiday. Didn't mind, all cars going up was on same time schedule, glad I didn't have to drive. Lunch was better than expected. When we got back to first stop, Nancy who was our tour guide apologized due to no car going to Sheraton Great Wall. She gave me 20Y and got me a taxi. She was really sorry, didn't take back the money and refused any tip. She worked diligent and I appreciated her taking ownership of the issue. If I had a do over, I would take the same tour bus but would skip the cable car. Waiting in line to buy ticket and line to get on was easily hour+ wasted. Line is more like a fan, learn to wiggle though. Fun game. Walking up supposedly takes 35min and good to warm up the legs for the steep wall hike. I would also take more then one bottle of water and some snacks to munch on. Good times Good memory BTW, leave enough room to be back on time. There is always one who holds up the entire bus. There should be a rule for that person to stand all the way drive back...
My wife & me enjoyed the tour very much. The tour guide Lisa was so wonderful, friendly, patient & helpful. She even took the time to advise us on our other places of interest which we'd planned to visit but not sure how to. Big help for our next few days in Beijing. Six big stars for her!!!..
What an amazing day - was picked up from my hotel, and dropped back off, and saw the beautiful great wall! had heard that Badalang was over-crowded, and that you lost the historic feeling of the wall as it had become very commercialised - whereas the Mutianyu part of the wall was amazing...there were quite a few people there, but you didn't feel in anyway that it was over-crowded. The tour was organised really well, and the lunch was amazing. The guide was great - although her english wasn't the greatest...but given it's her second language she did great - it would have been good to get a bit more information about the wall...but what we heard was still interesting. The tour should have also recommended comfortable walking shoes (trainers are best) as it's quite difficult walking on the wall - but great still. Also the lunch was amazing. I would have liked to have spent more time on the wall, as only had two hours, and for people who are not athletic means you can't walk a huge distance on the wall. but overall the tour was amazing and i loved every minute of it...
