I just returned from your 8 day Train Tour of China (Beijing/Xi'an/Shanghai) and had a wonderful time!
The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable about their cities, the transportation worked just right, and the hotels were first class.
We were met at the terminals by the guides and the activities ran very well. The meals we had were well presented and plentiful. (and delicious)
