We stayed on two different occasions. The first time for three days. A month later when we went back to Beijing we chose to stay at the same hotel again. This time for five nights. Very good value for money. Rooms are well equipped and clean. Service is very good and most of the staff spoke fairly good english. They were helpful. As Beijing i such a big city it is hard to stay "central". This is as good placement as any other hotel. Walking distance to Forbidden City, Tianmen square and more. Only problem was some taxi drivers didn't know the way to the hotel. I can really recommend this hotel...

My family of six stayed in two rooms. Our stay was a pleasant one. Rooms were generally clean except for the foul smell coming from one of the room. The smell probably came from the sewerage system of the toilet. Hotel was centrally located but many of their cabbies do not know this hotel and its location. Those who cannot speak mandarin must be prepared for all the inconvenience of getting taxis back to the hotel. In future, we would like to choose a hotel near the subway station. It is cheap and convenient to travel in Beijing by this mode of transport...

I am a single elderly seasoned female traveller. I found the Shatan Hotel to be just what I wanted: clean, conveniently located with all necessary conveniences for me (safe deposit box in room, tea/coffee, tv, airport shuttle) and is very good value. The staff were friendly and could speak English. It is situated in a little road where one can observe and experience authentic Chinese life. I did not eat in the hotel. There are several eating places where I ate at night. Just around the corner is a bank. I felt safe at all times and ate out alone in the street at night...

I found the hotel to be very good value and location. Whilst the room was on the small side, it was very clean with a queen size bed. I'm sure the food in the hotel may be quite good, but I perferred to eat at some of the eating houses in the surrouding streets, which was very interesting. I must also compliment the girls at the front reception. They were most helpful, and their English was really quite good. I would stay at the Shatan again if I were to ever return to Beijing. Wayne Sweeper..

Although it is a small hotel, it is traditionally beautifull. It is also on a good location that is easy to reach Jing Shan Park (East gate) but rather far from Wang Fu Jing Shopping area. I also noted that my room was never vacuumed because I found a piece of glass fraction on the floor. However, I would recommend this hotel because it is valued for your money...

Bon hotel, proche de la colinne au charbon. Attention le prix d'une chambre double n'est pas le meme qu'une chambre twin, alors que c'est ce qui est indiqué sur le site web...
