To the east of the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity and south of Garden of Virtue and Harmony, lies a tranditional Chinese “sanhuyuan” named Hall of Jade Ripples. It was originally built in 1750 duirng the reign of Emperor Qianlong. It was burned down in 1860, and later rebuilt in 1892. It is famous for serving as a prison for Emperor Guangxu for ten years.
