Handy central location hence the high price for an 80 y.o hotel. Rooms were clean but as expected smelt a little old or musty. Staff were very efficient but unfortunately language barrier ruined my stay. A chinese friend tried to contact me only to be told they did not have a guest registered under my name. Not sure how they had my name entered in computer, but the confusion meant I had no contact with intended interpreter.
Staff spoke very little english, same problem as everybody els in Shanghai. The mention of Australia or even Tibet in english drew blank looks. And the hotel is in Tibet road. Language barrier was a huge problem, but as this is the norm for Shanghai, this would not prevent me from staying there again.
