However, I don't think he should drink while he was on duty. / Driver ( 5*) / Hotel ( 3*) / FOOD ( 1*) = The first 2 lunch was not impressive But acceptable. The third lunch was totally disappointed , the only dishes we can eat were 2 plates of stir-fried vegetable / pork leg and the fish. AND The Chicken which wrapped in lotus leaf was a disaster , the meat was not fresh at all and the taste was awful. ( This restaurant was located next to a tea factory). We thoroughly enjoyed this tour in Oct 2010 and would recommend it to those who want to explore this part of China. This is our 2nd tour with Chinatour.net and the experiences on both were positive. They were both very pleasant, trouble free & memorable. Everything from hotel accommodation to the personal services of our tour guides & drivers either met or exceeded our expectations. The driver and guides were very good. They knew the history and the locations of the places of interest and were very generous with their expertise. The accommodation selected, the motor vehicle and the restaurants were of good quality. The only thing we would suggest is that the guide go over the menu choices with the guests. The guides provided menus that were typical of the areas we visited. The majority of the food was excellent and we enjoyed it. I was, like any other would-be visitors to China, a tad worried when I booked on-line and made payments to someone I have not dealt with. Potential visitors please rest assured, they are a great bunch to deal with. They care for your enjoyment, would go out of their way to make sure you have a great time. We have been back to Australia and busy at work for almost 2 weeks. Thanks to your organisation and the service of the relevant people at Chinatour, we had a great time in China. One evening the meal was barely edible, mostly bones and the soup was full of what looked like grass and tasted like it. The staff at this particular restaurant were rude and very inattentive. It was a weekend evening and the restaurant was very busy. The tour and places of interest lived up to the descriptions in the guide books. Our only suggestion here is that the time in each place is not long enough. We were touring in spring and the gardens in particular were spectacular and as a garden lover would have like a lot more time to tour the gardens in depth. We at least have learned what places to put in our next itinerary for longer stays. Overall the trip was very enjoyable and we would recommend it highly and hope that the guides provided would be as good as the ones we had.
