This is the first time I have stayed at the Taiyue Suites. I would never come back to this hotel again. I stayed in the hotel for five days in May of 2008. I paid for a two-bedroom deluxe suite. Though I did have a view, it was a very old building in front of my window, and I had to keep my curtains down all the time to avoid the view. I went to the restaurant downstairs at the first floor with my three-year-old to have breakfast, the service person in the restaurant informed me that I had to pay 68 RMB for the kid, since the room only provides one free breakfast. I told them I had a two-bedroom suite which is the most expensive room type in the hotel, and I assume that two-bedroom would include another person, and the service person told me that it does not matter, one suite one free breakfast! The coffee maker in the room does not work, when I tried to make coffee, the hot water with coffee spills out from the coffee maker, and my child was standing nearby, and I quickly used the towel to dry it, and the hotel wanted to charge me 25 RMB because I got the towel dirty. Service crew has very little smile, and maybe it’s the weather….. When I was going to check out of the hotel, the front desk told me that I need to pay 18 RMB for the coffee I opened the first day (that’s the spilt coffee which made the towel dirty). I was speechless...
This is the third time I have stayed at the Taiyue Suites. Staff remain professional cheery and thoughtful. Services have improved. The hotel management is making a thoughtful effort to make the non-Chinese speaking traveler more and more welcome. Previously the washing machine and air con instructions were entirely in Chinese. Dual language stickers have been applied over the Chinese only operating instructions, and I must say are very helpful. The interruptions to the in room wireless network have been rectified and unlike last time, I didn’t need to ask for any technical assistance because of poor connectivity. I guess this confirms that it is the little things that make ones stay just that more pleasant. Most of the refurbishing is complete and the hotel room is quiet and odor free. Whilst there is an in-hotel phone number for the Fitness Center, one still does not exist. I think one is in planning. Perhaps next time???..
My stay at Taiyue Suite Hotel & Apartment was made enjoyable by the professionalism and friendliness of all the staff, the prompt room service, the prompt technical service and the high quality of cleanliness that my room was maintained at every day. The location was perfect for my needs. I have one criticism: whilst there was a kitchen in the room, there were no cooking utensils provided...
