Since Xi’an is popular tourist city, the transportation system is well developed. It is quite convenient to travel to Xian. Flight is available between Xian and many other cities in China. Besides, high-speed trains have brought much convenience.
Xian Xianyang International Airport is located about 30 kilometers away from the downtown. Both international flights and domestic flights are available. By Train
High-speed train is available between Xi’an and Beijing, Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Luoyang and etc. It takes only about 5 hours from Beijing to Xi’an by high-speed train. Local transportation
Subway(Metro)
Xian Subway Line 1 and Line 2 have been in operation for now. Normally the running hours of the subway is from 6 am to 11 pm. The ticket fare ranges from CNY 2 to CNY 5. The specific fare depends on how many stations passengers have been travelled. It is CNY 2 within 6 stations, CNY 3 within 7-10 stations, CNY 4 within 11-17 stations and CNY 5 for over 17 stations.

The subway line covers some of the most famous attractions, such as Banpo Museum(Banpo Station,Line1), Bell and Drum Tower(Line 2) and City Wall(Line 2). Other lines are still being built.
Public bus
The public bus system is well developed in Xi’an. The bus line covers almost all the famous attractions in Xi’an. The ticket fare start at CNY1 for normal buses and CNY2 for air-conditioned buses. The final price is calculated according to how far passengers have gone. The running hours of most buses are between 6:00 and 6:30 in the morning, and finish between 19:30-23:00. There are also tourist bus lines available, which is specially meant to provide convenient and cheap transportation to the tourist attractions in and around the city. Destinations includes the most famous attractions in Xian, such as the Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, Huashan Mountain, Famen Temple, Hanyang Mausoleum and etc.

The taxi fee differs according to taxis below 1.8L and above 1.8L.

The flag-down payment is CNY 6 for first 2 kilometers and fuel surcharge is CNY1. CNY1.5 per km after 2 km. 50 percent surcharge every kilometer after 8 km for returning empty. In the night(23:00-6:00), additional CNY1 will be charged for flag-down payment and additional CNY0.3 every kilometer after the initial 2 km. Every 2.5 minutes’ waiting will be charged half the fare of one kilometer.
For taxis above 1.8L
Daytime The initial fare is CNY9 for the first 2 kilometers and CNY2.4 per Kilometer after 2 km.
Night The initial fare is CNY10 for the first 2 km and CNY2.7 per km after 2 km.
