Pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 am in the morning, then drive to Gubei Water Town and Simatai Great Wall, which takes about 3 hours. Gubei Water Town and Simatai Great Wall are located close to each other. Regarded as 'Wuzhen in Beijing', Gubei Water Town boasts a combination of mountains, water and ancient villages. Simatai Great Wall is one of the most primitive sections of the Great Wall. Unlike Badaling and Mutianyu Great Wall which has undergone extensive restoration, the wall at Simatai still kept its original appearance. It is often described with the following five words: perilous, dense, diverse, artful, and peculiar.
When we arrive at the the Tourist Center, you can buy the entrance ticket easily onsite. Cable car (optional) is available to go up and down from foot of the hill to on the Great Wall. You can go hiking on the Great Wall and walk around in the water town.
Finally we will transfer you back to your hotel.

Unfortunately our guide didn’t speak good English and knew very little of the Great Wall history or Gubei water town. He also wanted to leave straight after we visited the wall without us going to the water town. We had to insist that we wanted to visit there and it was a part of the trip we paid for. more..
