Beijing to Lhasa by train
There is only one train available from Beijing to Lhasa, which is No.T27 Train.
The train departs from Beijing West Station and arrives at Lhasa Train Station.

Since it is such a long journey from Beijing to Lhasa, sleepers are always the most popular berth and the tickets are always sold out in peak season. Usually a lot of tourists would like to go to Tibet in August, even hard seat tickets will be sold out very soon at this time of the year. If tourists have plans to travel to Lhasa, it is a must to book the train tickets in advance, 20 days in advance recommended.
If the No.T27 Train is not available, there are still alternative choices. Firstly, take a train from Beijing to Xining, and then take another train from Xining to Lhasa. There are 3 trains available from Beijing to Xining and 4 or 5 trains available from Xining to Lhasa.
Oxygen equipment is available on all the trains travelling to Tibet. Passengers who have severe altitude illness should ask for an oxygen mask.

Note:
Tibet travel permit is required for any foreigners who want to go to Tibet. Before tourists taking a train, plane or bus to Tibet, they need to show the permit to the working staff.
The tickets of Train T27 is usually short of supply. There are other ways to get to Lhasa by make transfer at Xining and there is no detours.
First take a train from Beijing to Xining, and then take a train from Xining to Lhasa. Train T175 and T151 are available from Beijing to Xining. Train K9811 starts from Xining West Station and arrive at Lhasa Station.

No.T28 Train is the only train that travels from Lhasa to Beijing.
